Spring, Spring, Spring

One of my favorite things about spring are the beautiful tulips. They give such new life after a long cold winter. I think every space needs to have a vase or pot of tulips to bring spring in doors. How can you not love all the variety of color found in these flowers. French tulips are my absolute favorite spring flower. So delicate and feminine.

This pink color is fabulous. Love the contrast of green leaves.

The intricacy of this french tulip is amazing. Could bring life into any space.

Love the vibrancy of all these colors.

I recently was on http://blog.uniqueuniquedesign.com blog. She showed this photo, orange tulips spilling out over the container, I love.

Tobi Fairley often uses tulips in her interiors. I love these spaces she has created and then added these arrangements.

Another room by the so talented Tobi Fairley.

Having this vase on your desk would definitely bring creativity to your work.

Featured in house beautiful by designer John Willey.

Not only do I use them in interiors. I had to have them in my wedding.

So please run to the nearest flower shop to buy your punch of tulips.

Use them in your kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom.

Spring is in the air!!

New Attractions - Texas Trip!

Recently I attended the trade show in Dallas, Tx. I wanted to post pictures of a few of my favorite must have’s. I repeatedly go to these companies to find pieces I love. Companies represented are Two’s Company, 18 Karat, Barbara Cosgrove, Bethel International, and KN.

I loved the color combination in the bedding of the turquoise and green with the splash of pink. Stay tuned to see more of that color combination. The simplicity and clean look of the low marble tables with the white accents allows a space to look larger - as well as gives my mind ability to create and breathe. And, look at the poppy red - spring is in the air!!! The small vases from Global Views are perfect for those fresh-picked, Spring blooms.

Re-Examining

I’m very excited to welcome in this new year. At the end of each year I review what I enjoyed and what worked, as well as what was not so successful. 2009 brought challenges to most, but I think for those who survived, we are stronger for it.

Most people, when faced with challenges, will adapt to survive, especially when the challenge is an economic one. We look at our lives and try to decide what is important, and what we can do without. Surprisingly, what we sometimes cut out isn’t really missed, after all. Did that happen to you?

This downsizing of our lives eventually impacts our environments. I believe we are now (and increasingly in the future) making our spaces more efficient and giving a greater role to functionality and budget. We are taking those spaces that were only used once or twice a year and rethinking their use (or lack thereof). Repurposing and beautifying an unused space can make your home more efficient and give you a space you’ll fully live in.

I read this great article in the New York Times about a family that decided to make their lives more efficient by downsizing and living “by half”. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/24/opinion/24kristof.html

What I enjoyed most about it was that in the discovery of living with less and in a smaller space, the family was forced to really live in each others’ lives. (Although for some of us who at times need to retreat away from our family, there should always be at least one space we can find in that desperation!)

I think we can all examine the environments we’ve created for ourselves and see what changes are needed for us to fully live in our entire space. It might not be to live ‘by half” or to even downsize, but just a mere rediscovery of a space that is rarely used or a change in a room’s purpose to one that fits our current lifestyle and needs.

Why blogging?

Yes, I am joining the world of blogging. This fills me with many emotions. At times it's anxiety.... when am I going to find time to do this....how will I create something new, and to write, this word alone is filled with fear? Writing is unfortunately not a gift I was given.

In high school, my english teacher basically insinuated that I cheated on my grammar tests. He no longer had new tests to give me because I failed all the previous ones. So, with that being said, please forgive the grammar errors and mishaps in my sentences. As we all know the best way to conquer your fears is to take them head on. I am hoping this blog will help dissolve that fear.

One gift I do have is the ablility to visualize the unvisible. With that being said this blog is going to have lots and lots of photos. After all pictures are the inspiration of the imagination interpreted. So even though there is anxiety there is much anticipated exitement. This is a world with new friends to meet, new ideas to create and share, and inspirations waiting to be made. This blog is also a large cork board for me to post my threads of creativity.

What will I be blogging about? My travels, amazing food creations, cocktails I love, people I can't live without, color, color, color, (I can't ever have enough of color) design trends, new projects we are working on, events, people that improve our lives everyday!!!! And the list can go on and on. So please come back and see where life is taking us today. As well as I would love to here what inpires you.
